Kaushik Ranjan Bandyopadhyay
Senior Associate and Principal Policy Advisor
Kaushik is an economist by training with 19 years of professional experience that includes conducting policy research and carrying out academic and administrative responsibilities. Prior to his association with IISD, he had been serving as Associate Professor at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) University. While at the university he carried out many joint studies with IISD, including building up afossil fuel inventory commissioned by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and preparing a citizen’s guide to energy subsidies in India.
Among various positions that he has held in the past, notable engagement includes serving as a member of the sub-group on the transport sector formed by Government of India to provide inputs to IEA’s Energy Technology Perspectives 2010; as a columnist on the energy sector with leading national dailies; as visiting faculty with United Nations University (UNU-IIST) and as a low-carbon finance specialist with an ADB project on low-carbon transport in India. Recently, he has also served as a consultant to the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and as a visiting scholar with Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI), Japan.
Kaushik has more than 60 publications to his credit, which include articles in ABDC-rated peer-reviewed journals with high impact factors, books, book chapters and lead columns in the print media.
